Welcome

As members of a US/Canadian association of ministry staff and volunteers ministering primarily among international students, the planners of the ACMI ‘08 Conference invite residents of Canada and the U.S. to join us in the U.S. capital area May 29-31 for the 2008 conference to be held at McLean Bible Church in Vienna, VA.

Conference Theme: Strengthening the Workers to Serve with Integrity

Colossians 1:10-14

  • ACMI ’08 will focus on the needs of the international ministry servant and how we can better care for ourselves and each other.

  • Burnout, unmet spiritual and emotional needs, and failure to uphold personal standards of ministry conduct can leave us vulnerable to temptation and not only result in the sad shipwreck of international ministers but also deeply hurt those we serve.

  • Having seen this all too often in the North American church at large, we believe it is time to address this as a community of fellow ministers. Integrity in ministry is important for us to serve with freedom and to successfully raise up the next generation of healthy, wise, and faithful servants of Christ.

  • Many gifted speakers and facilitators will help us learn how to serve God with the balance that will guard our personal lives, our marriages, and our ministries from failure and heartache.

  • As strong and healthy ministers, fully devoted to the Lord, we can help set an example for the next generation of international ministry workers as well as those we are seeing return to their home countries, taking not only the Good News of Jesus with them, but also an example of how to be protected from the heart ache and fallout of ministry and moral failure. So let’s open our hearts and eyes to how professional international ministry workers and volunteers can better care for ourselves and each other.

  • In addition to the excellent plenary speakers, seminars, and workshops, the conference will offer an ESL Track, mealtime meetings with a special ministry focus, exhibitors from various ministries, professional counselors on site to meet individually with attendees, and international worship.

  • Please note: Childcare will not be provided for this conference.

  • Overseas residents who are leaders of international student ministry may participate by prior invitation only (for example, those who received an invitation for I-CARE).
